Great article as always. We took an unexpected trip to Virginia mid-June for a funeral—my husband’s uncle—and brought our 8 and 10 year olds. I had the same thoughts as you—being with more family members than in our day-to-day lives, bringing solace to his aunt, and “practice” for not-that-far-off funerals that are likely to be grandparents.
